How to Identify and Measure Shower Door Rollers

Identify the right replacement rollers

To work out how to measure shower door rollers for a replacement, start with the parts already fitted to your door. Check the wheel size, the shape of the holder, how it attaches, and whether it sits at the top or bottom. Clear photos and measurements make it easier to choose a matching part.

Some rollers look alike but work in different ways. A 25 mm wheel with a push-button release may have a different mounting arrangement from another 25 mm roller. Matching the diameter is one part of the check.

This guide helps you gather the details before ordering. It explains the differences shown in the Aeros range and points you to the right place for help. For fitting instructions, use the guide for your exact shower and hardware.

Start with photos and the shower model

Take a photo of the whole shower first. Include the door shape, the rails it runs along, and how the door opens. A square single-door shower and a round double-door shower can use different arrangements.

If you know the shower model, write it down. An old order, invoice or product label may help. Include the approximate purchase date if you have it, but do not guess a model from the enclosure shape alone.

Next, photograph the upper and lower rollers. Try to show the front and side of each type, including where the holder meets the door. A close-up of a button, spring or adjustment screw can be useful.

Keep the door safely supported and leave its supporting hardware in place. Do not loosen a roller just to get a better photo. If a part is hidden, send the views you can get safely and ask how to measure shower door rollers without disturbing the supporting hardware.

A useful set of photos shows:

  • The full shower and door arrangement
  • One top roller, including its mounting point
  • One bottom roller and any release button or spring
  • The upper and lower tracks
  • Any damaged part or visible model label

Identify the roller features

A product name can describe several different things. Parts sold as shower screen rollers can have different wheel counts, holders and release mechanisms. Looking at each feature separately makes comparison easier.

Wheel count

A single-wheel assembly has one wheel. A double-wheel assembly has two. Match the arrangement on your existing door. A double-wheel part is not an automatic upgrade for a door fitted with single wheels.

Count wheels on each assembly, then count the assemblies on the door. This helps avoid confusing a pack of four roller assemblies with four wheels on one holder.

Release mechanism

Look at how the lower roller engages with the track. In the Aeros range, some lower rollers have a push-button release. Others use a spring mechanism that is pulled down.

Both arrangements use spring action, so the words “spring loaded” alone may not tell you which part you have. A clear photo of the release mechanism is often more useful than a short description.

Materials and mounting

The wheel and the holder can use different materials. For example, the Aeros stainless-steel push-button set has stainless-steel main assemblies with white nylon-type wheels. A white wheel does not identify the whole assembly.

Also compare how the holder attaches to the door. Check its shape and the position of the fixing. Similar-looking wheels can sit differently in their holders, which affects how they meet the track.

Wheel only or complete assembly

Check what you are replacing. A wheel-only option supplies the wheel, while a roller assembly includes the holder or mechanism described in that product listing. The Aeros nylon-wheel variants are listed as wheels only.

If the holder or release mechanism is damaged, a new wheel alone may not address the problem. Show the whole part in your photos, even when the wheel is the most obvious damaged piece. Check the contents of the selected product before ordering.

How to measure shower door rollers

Record measurements in millimetres. Use a ruler or calliper and write down what you actually measure. Avoid rounding a reading to the nearest size shown in a shop listing.

Measure the wheel diameter

The diameter is the distance across the wheel through its centre, from one outside edge to the other. It is different from the size of the screw, hole or complete holder.

Measure only where you can reach safely. If the wheel is still fitted and partly hidden, tell Aeros that your reading is approximate. A worn or broken edge can also make the original diameter harder to judge.

The Aeros range includes products listed in 19 mm and 25 mm sizes, as well as complete sets listed in 25 mm only. These are product options, not a complete list of all shower roller sizes.

Check the rest of the assembly

Diameter alone cannot confirm the fit. Depending on the design, the wheel width, mounting point, holder shape and distance between the wheel and door can matter too.

Take a side photo to show how far the wheel sits from the mounting face. If the product uses a fixing through glass, its mounting details also need to match. Use an existing drawing or ask for help rather than trying to alter a hole or fixing.

For the Aeros push-button options, the glass mounting-hole diameter is another important distinction. The stainless-steel push-button assembly requires an 11 mm hole in the glass. The other Aeros push-button assembly requires a 13 mm hole. These figures describe the glass mounting holes, not the wheel diameters.

For the stainless-steel push-button hardware on Aeros 4000, 11000, 12000 and 14000 models, the glass has four 11 mm mounting holes. The upper hole centres are 16 mm below the top edge, and the lower hole centres are 16 mm above the bottom edge. These 16 mm offsets have not been confirmed for the other push-button assembly.

Use these dimensions to help identify matching hardware. They do not make the two assemblies interchangeable and do not apply to other roller families. Do not drill or enlarge holes in existing safety glass to make a roller fit.

Do not remove a glass door or loosen a load-bearing roller just to complete a measurement list. Send the safe measurements and photos first. Aeros can help establish what further information is needed before you order.

For another visual explanation of how to measure shower door rollers, see Shower Part’s roller and wheel size guide. Its diagrams show the measurements separately. Use them as a reference alongside the details for your Aeros hardware.

How to measure shower door rollers: 25 mm wheel diameter, with 11 mm glass holes and 16 mm edge offsets for the specified Aeros stainless push-button models.
Wheel diameter and glass mounting-hole diameter are separate measurements. The 11 mm holes and 16 mm edge offsets shown apply to stainless push-button hardware on Aeros models 4000, 11000, 12000 and 14000. The other Aeros push-button assembly uses 13 mm glass holes; its edge positions are not confirmed. Glass edge details are schematic.

Compare the Aeros roller options

The table below summarises the current product descriptions. Use it to narrow your enquiry, then check your existing hardware against the linked product. It does not assign parts to every shower model.

Aeros productListed wheel sizeWhat to check
Single-wheel door rollers19 mm or 25 mmOne wheel per assembly; compare the mounting arrangement
Double-wheel door rollers19 mm or 25 mmTwo-wheel assembly; compare the holder and fixing
Nylon replacement wheels19 mm or 25 mmWheel-only option; check the wheel and fixing details
Push-button door rollers19 mm or 25 mmCheck the push-button mechanism and complete assembly
Spring-loaded complete set25 mmFour roller assemblies for one door: two adjustable upper assemblies and two pull-down spring-loaded lower assemblies
Stainless-steel push-button complete set25 mmFour roller assemblies for one door: two adjustable upper assemblies and two lower push-button assemblies

Read the selected size and quantity carefully before adding a part to your order. A complete set of four roller assemblies for one door is different from buying a particular roller or another pack quantity.

If the part looks close but the holder, release or fixing differs, pause and ask. Choosing from appearance alone can leave you with a wheel that is the right diameter but cannot attach or run correctly.

Wheel size is only one compatibility check. Doric’s shower-screen roller guidance also advises checking glass thickness and track style. This general guidance does not establish that another brand’s rollers fit an Aeros shower.

Check the top and bottom positions

The top and bottom rollers can have different jobs. On the two complete Aeros sets above, the upper rollers provide door height and level adjustment. The lower rollers engage with the bottom rail and release from it for fitting or access.

The spring-loaded set uses a knurled adjustment nut on the top roller, with a small grub screw to secure the adjustment. Its bottom springs pull down. The stainless-steel push-button set uses adjustment screws on the upper assemblies and push buttons on the lower assemblies.

Keep those details with the relevant product. Do not apply one set’s adjustment method to a different roller because the wheel sizes match.

When sending photos, label them “top” and “bottom.” If the door has different hardware on its left and right sides, show both. This gives Aeros a clearer picture than one loose wheel photographed on its own.

Lower Aeros roller releases compared: a pull-down spring on the spring-loaded assembly and a push button on the stainless assembly.

Make an ordering checklist

For a shower door roller replacement, gather the following:

  • Shower brand and model, if known
  • Photos of the complete shower, top rollers, bottom rollers and tracks
  • Measured wheel diameter, with any uncertainty noted
  • Wheel count and visible mounting details
  • The release type, if fitted
  • The number of doors and parts you need
  • A link to the product you are considering

Include a short description of the problem. For example, say whether the wheel is visibly broken, the door catches at one point, or a lower roller has come out of its track. Do not assume a stiff door always needs new rollers; a check of the whole arrangement may be needed.

If you are unsure how to measure shower door rollers, send your photos and ask which dimensions are needed before placing an order. Keep the old parts and any useful photos until you have confirmed the replacement. Avoid ordering from the shower’s age, wheel colour or a rough size estimate alone.

If the door is loose, damaged or coming off its track, stop using it and get help before continuing. Do not force it along the rails.

Find the right fitting guide

Once the correct part has been identified, follow the instructions for that shower and roller arrangement. Aeros publishes separate assembly guides for:

These guides show different door and wheel arrangements. Check that the hardware shown matches yours before following a step. If it differs, ask Aeros rather than adapting the instructions by trial and error.

The guides cover assembly and should be read with the relevant product information. They are not proof that a particular replacement part fits every version of a shower series.

A grout-free shower still needs care around its moving parts. Keeping the tracks clear and checking the door hardware are part of looking after the enclosure. Use the care advice for your model and seek help with damaged or insecure parts.

Common questions

Are shower door rollers universal

You should not assume they are. Wheel size, holder shape, mounting details and track arrangement can differ. Match the existing part and check the product details before ordering. If you are unsure, send photos and measurements to Aeros.

Can I replace a 19 mm wheel with a 25 mm wheel

Do not choose a different diameter as a general upgrade. A larger wheel changes how the assembly meets the track. Follow the steps on how to measure shower door rollers, then confirm the size for your existing door and hardware before ordering.

Does spring loaded mean push button

It can describe more than one release design. In the Aeros complete-set range, one lower-roller arrangement pulls down and the other uses a push button. Look at the actual mechanism and product photos.

Do I need a complete set for each door

The two 25 mm complete sets listed here each contain four roller assemblies for one sliding door (two upper and two lower). Other products and pack quantities differ. Check the parts required for your door and the contents of the selected option.

How to measure shower door rollers without removing the door

Start with visible features and photos while the door remains safely in place. Some details may be hidden. If you cannot measure or photograph them safely, ask Aeros what is needed next. Identification should not require guessing or unsafe handling.

Will new rollers fix a door that sticks

That depends on the cause. A visibly worn or damaged roller may need attention, but the door and track arrangement should also be checked. Describe where it catches and send photos before assuming a replacement part will solve the problem.
